BUY-2687: Apr 16-30 Community Conversation Backlog for Agent-Commerce

Owner: Wave
Issue: BUY-2687
Prepared: 2026-04-16
Goal: Build a backlog of real community conversation opportunities where BuyWhere content can be inserted credibly over the next two weeks.

Purpose

This backlog identifies 30 live and upcoming conversation targets across Reddit, HN, Discord, X, and niche forums where BuyWhere's agent-native commerce API positioning can be introduced without being promotional. Each target is assessed for relevance, timing sensitivity, and recommended content asset.

Companion files:

Timing Rules

  • Act now (next 72h): Targets marked high timing sensitivity — post or reply immediately
  • This week (Apr 16-23): Targets marked medium timing — engage when thread is active
  • Monitor only: Targets marked low timing — bookmark and watch for window to engage

Engagement Rules

Engage Directly When:

  • The thread is about agent workflows, tool calling, MCP, or structured retrieval
  • The thread asks about shopping, commerce, product search, or price comparison
  • The author is building an agent, chatbot, assistant, or MCP integration
  • A direct technical answer adds value without being promotional

Monitor Only When:

  • The thread is primarily consumer shopping discussion
  • The community has strict self-promotion rules and no direct answer applies
  • The thread is generic "AI is changing everything" discourse without technical substance
  • Thread is past its active window (>5 days old and cooling)

Skip When:

  • The thread is about a direct competitor with no angle for BuyWhere
  • The community bans developer-tool promotion entirely
  • The thread is low-engagement and BuyWhere mention would feel forced

Apr 16 Live Targets (Already Validated — Act First)

These 7 threads were found on Apr 16 and are still relevant. Priority order from the original file:

1. r/mcp: skills-on-demand MCP server

2. r/SideProject: tool explosion in agent APIs

3. r/AI_Agents: agent frameworks calling MCP

4. r/mcp: agent-readiness scanning

5. r/mcp: state of MCP apps

6. r/AI_Agents: is MCP dead?

  • URL: https://www.reddit.com/r/AI_Agents/comments/1rv7xfz/is_mcp_dead/
  • Publish signal: 2026-03 (date unclear)
  • Timing sensitivity: medium
  • Relevance: Good for nuanced take on narrow-vs-broad MCP value
  • Recommended asset: MCP guide — https://api.buywhere.ai/docs/guides/mcp
  • Engagement mode: direct reply — defend narrow vertical MCP, not MCP in general

7. r/mcp: WebMCP and agent discovery
